I’m Shad Murib and I’m running for Chair of the Colorado Democratic Party.
I’m running for chair to lead a progressive and inclusive movement that fights for all corners of Colorado.
Together, we can build a party that fights for economic justice for all, organizes everywhere year-round, and stands up for working Coloradans — not the special interests.
After an historic 2022 midterm election, we re-elected our entire slate of statewide elected officials, including Governor Polis and Senator Bennet, grew our legislative majorities, and secured a Democratic majority on the State Board of Education and the University of Colorado Board of Regents — we now have a responsibility to be bold in our fight for progressive solutions that help everyone get ahead no matter their background, race, or zip code.
Too many Coloradans struggle to afford the high cost of living across the state. Climate change is harming low-income communities in particular, and making drought worse, especially in rural areas. The Republican Party is waging war on women’s reproductive health and abortion rights. Working Coloradans, the backbone of our economy, need our support more than ever.
The Democratic Party is the party of solutions to these enormous challenges, but when the rubber meets the road, local far-right officials still obstruct our progress. The next frontier of Democratic politics is local.
COLORADO FOR ALL
When a Sheriff refuses to enforce our gun safety laws, like Red Flag, that puts all of us at risk.
When a County Clerk tampers with election equipment or gives conspiracy theorists safe haven, our democracy is compromised.
When a District Attorney targets people of color, justice is lost.
When a County Commissioner puts our public lands at risk or refuses to work on affordable housing, our economy and way of life is threatened.
As Chair, I will:
Hold Republicans accountable in every race everywhere.
Protect our incumbents and safeguard our majorities.
Set a new standard for inclusion of communities of color in the Democratic Party.
Create and fund a brand new branch of the party similar to the House Majority Project and the Democratic Senate Campaign Fund that erases the majorities Republicans hold in local county positions like Sheriff, County Commissioner, County Clerk, and District Attorney.
Aggressively take on election deniers, voter suppression, and any threat to Colorado’s best-in-the-nation election system.
Support a platform focused on working people, economic justice, and making sure that Labor unions, the backbone of our economy, have a welcoming and effective partner in the Democratic Party.
Fight for the right to abortion and reproductive health care for all.
Ensure Colorado is a safe and welcoming state for LGBTQ+ Americans.
Maintain our momentum in CD3 and defeat Lauren Boebert.
Harness the power of young voters and activists by mobilizing them within our party apparatus everywhere, including at every university and college across the state.
Run an effective budget and ensure that every county party and initiative has administrative support from CDP throughout their operations.
My commitment to the party is to build a world-class organization that not only defeats vile politicians like Boebert, but also protects our incumbents and works with local parties to defeat far-right candidates across the state who threaten our liberty and progress. I appreciate your support!
